REMODELING Magazine Honors Highly Regarded Princeton Area Builder, Baxter Construction

6/30/12

HOPEWELL, NEW JERSEY – James Baxter, owner of Baxter Construction, has been selected by REMODELING Magazine as a member of this year's REMODELING Big50. The Big50 awards were presented at a gala dinner at the Remodeling Leadership Conference in Baltimore, MD. Baxter Construction was honored in the category of Market Wise. These are remodelers who have built their business around a keen understanding of their markets. Spend 10 minutes with Jim Baxter and you'll understand why he and his team are successful in the greater Princeton area. Their focus is, and has always been, dedicated to listening to the customer. Beyond the extraordinary trust and mutual respect Baxter establishes with his loyal customer base is an unyielding commitment to craftsmanship and quality.

The 2012 Big50 winners are featured in Remodeling, a national trade publication read by more than 80,000 professional remodeling contractors. Baxter Construction truly is in rare air as part of the Remodeling Big50. With more than 62,000 remodeling firms with payrolls, fewer than 1,250 have made this prestigious list.

“We are very honored to receive this award,” states James Baxter, President of Baxter Construction. “It recognizes our business as one that works tirelessly to exceed the expectations of our customers. I direct a lot of credit to my teams of talented craftsmen and administrators. They are just as responsible for the experience our customers receive and the success we have realized as I am. We are lucky to live and operate in communities that value quality and integrity as much as the investment required to build their vision. We are privileged to be named to this select group of remodelers,"concludes Mr. Baxter.

Each year since 1986, the Remodeling Big50 inducts 50 owners of remodeling companies that have set exceptionally high standards for professionalism and integrity through exemplary business practices, craftsmanship, and impact in their community or the industry at large. Big50 remodelers run successful, often growing, companies of various sizes that have taken the lead in raising industry standards.

For many years, Baxter Construction has generously supported community organizations through its volunteer efforts with the Historical Society of Princeton, Morven Museum & Garden, The Hopewell Board of Education, Hopewell Borough and The Sourland Mountain Preserve.

The Big50 selection process has become increasingly rigorous in recent years, and the result, Remodeling editors believe, is one of the strongest classes to date. All 2012 inductees “stood up to detailed examinations of their businesses and their books, and they all demonstrated an admirably deft ability to restructure, retrench, and flat-out hustle to remain viable in a challenging economic climate,” according to Remodeling.

Remodeling editors, columnists, industry leaders, and the companies themselves make the nominations each year. Following a lengthy evaluation and interview process, the editors select the 50 individuals who exemplify the best of the industry that year, and who have something to offer other remodelers in proven practices.

Baxter Construction has worked with Princeton area architects and homeowners to build and renovate homes of distinction for over 30 years. Many of the renovations have been of an historic nature and some have been featured in newspapers and magazine articles. Baxter Construction's work on The Woodrow Wilson House in Princeton for example, won both the Princeton Historic Preservation Award as well as the NJ State Historic Preservation Award. Baxter Construction is also experienced in commercial construction, having built the Michael Graves Design Studio and the Whole Earth Center store, a LEED Certified green construction project, among others. Their quality and commitment to the customer is not reserved for large projects only. Baxter Construction works on smaller projects with the same integrity and responsiveness. They have even launched a subsidiary named Total Home Manager that proactively addresses home maintenance needs.
